Certificate Transparency

Certificate Transparency (CT) is a system of public logs that record the TLS certificates issued for domains. Because the logs are public, a certificate issued for a domain without the owner's knowledge can be spotted, which makes some interception attacks easier to catch.

For mobile, CT is a complement to certificate pinning rather than a replacement. Pinning hardens the app's own trust decisions; transparency helps the wider ecosystem detect bad certificates.
