App Repackaging

App repackaging means taking a shipped app apart, changing it and signing it again as a new package. Attackers use it to clone popular apps, insert malicious code, or remove protections, then distribute the result outside the official store.

Defences include tamper and integrity checks, app attestation and watching for unofficial copies. Testing measures how hard an app is to repackage and whether its protections detect it.
